“the psychedelic folkster”
Bio
I was born Charles West in Baltimore, Maryland in the mid 60's. As a youngster, I listened to a variety of musical styles thanks, in part, to my many siblings. I started playing the guitar at age 15, at which time a tortuous life of trying to get my message across began.
I recorded my first album Wasted Time in 1988 under the name Chazz. The album received favorable reviews and generous air-play on college radio stations on the East Coast.
After realizing I needed to eat and couldn't do that on a musician’s salary,
I got a real job. I got married, bought a house and recorded many
more songs at Moss Studios for Parapsychosis Records ™. Other bands have recorded there as well, including The Raindogs,The Guinness Pigs, and Alder Moon.
“The Psychedelic Folkster” moniker came about from a night of drinking.
I think it describes my folk-poppy-psychedelic-country-rock sound.
I'm not dead yet.
